The Royals winning streak, currently at three games, has been put on hold.
Apparently, the Minnesota Mother Nature was not pleased with the Kansas City Royals knocking the Minnesota Twins into MLB’s cellar.
Rather than give the Twins a chance to even the Royals record at the bottom, Mother Nature gave each team a day off.
Sad, I was extremely excited to watch the game today, optimistic this three game streak could turn into one much longer and, maybe not take the Royals to the top of the division, but give back a little more respect.
Since there is no game today, I decided to have some fun and look into Royals’ player’s home run pace for the 2012 season. Yes, the season is young, but at 36 home runs in 1985 by Steve Balboni, the Royals are the only MLB team whose home record sits below 40. No matter the time of the year, I like to follow the chase to 37!
Only players who currently have a home run are listed.
Player | Home Runs | Home Runs Pace |
|---|---|---|
| Billy Butler | 5 | 41 |
| Eric Hosmer | 5 | 41 |
| Alex Gordon | 4 | 32 |
| Mike Moustakas | 2 | 17 |
| Yuniesky Betancourt | 1 | 12 |
| Alcides Escobar | 1 | 8 |
| Mitch Maier | 1 | 12 |
Projections are based on number of games played, not at bats. Stat nerds – This is only meant to be fun, so live with it!

Projections should be based on percentage of the team’s games played vs. the 162 game schedule.
…and that’s what they are…
Percentage of current games played to team games, projected out over 162 games.
Not what article says. Did you write it?
