For Greg Billo’s efforts on May 21th where he earned his 4th win, pitching 7 strong innings, giving up no runs on 2 hits, 1 walk, and 5 strikeouts vs the Potomac Nationals, he was named Pitcher of the Week for May 21-27.
Greg is a native of Orchard Park, Illinois and was drafted by the Royals in the 25th round from Carl Sandburg High School in his hometown in 2008 and has won either weekly or end of year awards at every level he’s pitched at so far. Last year he recognized by MLB.com as the Class A Starting Pitcher of the Year while at Kane County.
This is the Blue Rocks second award this season with C Kevin David receiving the award for Carolina League Player of the Week for May 14-20

Reading you Blue Rocks articles get me excited that the Royals organization may be stocked with talent that we, who don’t follow the lower levels of the organization so closely, may not even realize.
