Ending their 12 game losing streak last night in Cleveland, the Royals finally brought back a sliver of optimism to Royals fans everywhere. Following the 8-2 win, Twitter and Facebook were a buzz about the Royals win.
Sure, most of the “positive” comments were back-handed compliments or sarcastic “it’s about time” remarks, but hidden in the sarcasm, lies a ray of hope for all Kansas City Royals fans.
Luke Hochevar tossed 6 1/3 innings of 2-run ball, striking out 4 and walking 3. Fans always love when good Luke shows up.
Not only did Good Luke show up, but he brought some bats with him, starting early with a 2-run home run from Billy Butler in the first inning.
The Royals collected for runs off Cleveland starter Ubaldo Jiminez and another four runs off reliever Jairo Asencio in the top of the ninth inning. Royals’ bats came alive big time with four home runs – two from Billy Butler, one each from Eric Hosmer and Alex Gordon.
As I mentioned earlier, this win can be fully attributed to my new “The Moose is Loose” t-shirt, which arrived in the mail yesterday!
As quickly as the celebration started, it ends for Royals fans. Today, the Kansas City Royals announced second year starting pitcher Danny Duffy will miss his next scheduled start tomorrow in Minnesota. A fill-in starter has yet to be announced. Duffy is expected to pitch when the Royals head to Detroit at the beginning of next week.
