Wil Myers Naturals

Wil Myers, Christian Colon on Fire for Naturals

The Northwest Arkansas Naturals sit at 20-17 after a 6-2 home stand. The Kansas City Royals Double-A Texas League affiliate currently sits second, four games behind the Tulsa Drillers (Colorado Rockies) in the North division.

Leading the Naturals, right fielder Wil Myers has been red-hot, hitting two home runs on Monday, giving him 13 on the season, to go along with 30 RBIs in 34 games. In the last 10 games, Myers is hitting .361 with six home runs and 13 RBIs. To boot, Myers is learning how to play 3rd base… He was drafted as a catcher.

As well, 2010′s #4 overall draft pick, Chrisian Colon, has been a beneficiary of Myers’s hot streak. Batting in front of Myers, Colon has hit .419 in the last 10 games.

Entering 2012, Wil Myers was ranked as Baseball America’s #3 prospect in the Royals organization and rated as the organization’s “Best Hitter for Average” and “Best Strike Zone Discipline”.

Christian Colon was expected to be on the fast-track to the MLB as the Royals every-day 2B after being drafted. Poor fielding and lower than expected batting averages in 2010 and 2011 have slowed the progress, but Colon looks to be back on track.

When will Royals fans see Wil Myers in the Big Show?
